About Us

The Owner/instructor

My name is Leah, and I’m a born and raised prairie girl who has worked within the education industry since I was 20 years old.

Not only do I hold a Bachelor of Education degree, but I also have:

  • A Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Human Resources & International Business)
  • 10 years of experience working in the Canadian Essential Skills industry
  • TESL Certificate
  • Level 2 CELPIP Instructor

I have always been passionate about helping people, and I strive to share my knowledge with others to set them up for success.

Working within the Adult Education field in a rural setting helped me to realize the lack of resources for EAL adults (English as an Additional Language).

Most Newcomers are working and don’t have the time to commit large amounts of their evenings to studying English (families, second jobs, lack of transportation). With Canada’s large immigration targets, it’s time for us to think outside the box when it comes to learning English.

Which is why I’m here!

I help workplaces fuse language learning into their training programs. To start looking at language instruction the same way they look at management or customer service training. As an investment in their staff.

When I’m not teaching in workplaces, you will find me walking my dogs, listening to podcasts, gardening and reading!

THE CONSULTANT

Meet Danny, also a born and raised prairie boy. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Danny understands how important it is to help newcomers bridge the gap between learning English and taking the next step into the Canadian workplace.

On top of  teaching English as a second language in Japan, he has taught all levels of adult language learners in both public and private settings. Additionally, he has also worked as a test supervisor for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Prior to becoming an educator, Danny also worked as an announcer for a commercial radio station and understands the importance for speakers to enunciate correctly.

His qualifications include:

  • A Master of Education in Educational Leadership
  • Bachelor of Education, Master of Teaching Program
  • Bachelor of Arts, Communication
  • TESOL Certificate
  • TESL Canada Professional Certificate Standard Level 1 (permanent)

Danny loves what Prairie Sky English stands for and is excited to help make a difference in both businesses and newcomers’ lives in all matters of EAL (English as an Additional Language) instruction and training.

When he’s not working you will find him enjoying the outdoors.
